해외 학습자를 위한 한국문화 국영문 사전의 유기성(有機性) 연구

A Study on the Organicity of the Korean-English Encyclopedia of Korean Culture for overseas Learners

본 연구는 해외의 한국학 교육에서 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있는 문화사전으로서 한국문화 국영문 사전이 갖춰야 할 전제를 유기성으로설정하고, 집필의 실제를 분석함으로써 유기성 구축을 위한 사전의 내용 구성 방식을 살펴보았다. 문화 사전의 유기성이란 문화의 역사성과축적성을 상호 긴밀하게 연결하여 수용자로 하여금 지식의 전체성과통일성을 그릴 수 있게 하는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구는 유기성을 위한한국문화 국영문 사전의 집필 기준을 표제어 내적인 층위와 표제어외적인 층위로 마련하고, 그에 따른 집필의 실제를 살펴보았다. 표제어 내적인 층위에서는 첫째, 문화 항목의 주제 영역에서 파생할 수 있는 소표제 안에 핵심 지식을 내용으로 구성함으로써 총론적이고 중핵적인 지식을 마련하였고, 둘째, 문화 항목이 갖고 있는 존재의 시간성에 따라 역사성과 현재성을 균형 있게 서술하였다. 표제어 외적인 층위에서는 첫째, 표제어 간의 시간의 흐름과 공유하고 있는 문화지식을드러냄으로써 표제어 간 관계성과 확장성을 확보하는 내용을 기술하였고, 둘째, 습득해야 할 문화지식의 선후 관계를 고려하여 표제어를난이도별로 배치함으로써 지식의 위계를 구성하였다. 이러한 내용의기술 및 구성 방식을 통해, 유기성을 갖춘 문화 사전으로서 한국문화국영문 사전은 학습자들이 한국문화에 대한 보다 깊이 있는 이해를도모할 수 있는 유용한 자료로 자리 잡을 것으로 기대된다.

This study establishes organicity as the prerequisite for the Korean-English Encyclopedia of Korean Culture for overseas learners, and by analyzing the actual compilation processes, examines the content composition methods for building organicity. At the internal headword level, the encyclopedia first prepared comprehensive and core knowledge, and second, described the historical and contemporary aspects of cultural items with balanced representation. At the external headword level, the study first described the relationships and extensibility between headwords, and second, structured a hierarchy of knowledge by arranging headwords according to difficulty levels. Through these methods, the Korean-English Encyclopedia of Korean Culture, characterized by its organic structure, enables learners to perceive the wholeness and unity of cultural knowledge.
