글로벌 시민문화의 동력으로서 한류: 초국가적 네트워크와 문화적 연대의 가능성

Hallyu as a Driving Force of Global Civic Culuture: Possibilities for Transnational Networks and Cultural Solidarity

한류는 문화 전파와 대중문화 향유를 넘어 동아시아 및 글로벌 질서의 변화를 설명할 수 있는 문화적 현상이다. 본 연구는 세계화와 지역화가 상호작용하는 맥락에서 한류의 글로벌 확산이 새로운 문화적 연대와 글로벌 정체성을 촉진할 수 있음을 주장한다. 한류는 지역성과 세계성이 상호 침투하여 형성되는 복합적 문화 현상으로서 국가와 자본의 한계를 넘어 다양한 행위자들이 형성한 초국가적 네트워크를 통해 전 세계적 맥락에서 문화적 다양성과 자율성을 증진하며 대안을 제시하는 글로컬 플랫폼으로서의 역할을 수행하고 있다. 기존의 일국 중심적 문화 전략의 한계를 비판하며, 글로벌리티와 지역성의 교차점에서 한류가 수행하는 생활정치의 역할과 기능을 조명하고자 하였다. 초국가적 행위자들의 수평적이고 참여적인 네트워크 질서는 동아시아 및 글로벌 평화와 번영에 기여하는 글로벌 시민문화의 하나의 토대가 될 수 있을 것이다.

Hallyu transcends the dissemination of culture and the enjoyment of popular culture, emerging as a cultural phenomenon capable of explaining transformations in East Asian and global orders. This study argues that the global diffusion of Hallyu within the interplay of globalization and localization fosters new cultural solidarities and global identities. As a complex cultural phenomenon shaped by the mutual penetration of regionality and globality, Hallyu functions as a glocal platform that transcends the limitations of state and capital. It enhances cultural diversity and autonomy on a global scale through transnational networks formed by diverse actors, offering alternative cultural paradigms. Critiquing the limitations of nation-centric cultural strategies, this research highlights Hallyu's role and function in the domain of “life politics” at the intersection of globality and regionality. The horizontal and participatory network structures established by transnational actors provide a foundation for global citizenship culture, contributing to peace and prosperity in East Asia and beyond.
