한국과 중국의 연안 도시 직업교육 초기 발전과정 비교(1876-1908): 인천과 천진을 중심으로

Comparison of Early Development Process of Vocational Education in Coastal Cities in Korea and China (1876-1908): Focusing on Incheon and Tianjin

[연구목적] 한국의 인천과 중국의 천진은 지리적 환경이 유사하고 산업발달 및 상회 설립 등을 통해 발전한 도시라는 공통점을 공유하며 장기간 교류가 이루어져 왔다. 그럼에도 양 도시 간 직업교육 및 지방 교육에 관한 연구적 성과가 전무한 실정으로 이에 본 연구에서는 인천과 천진의 근대 직업교육을 비교 분석하고자 한다. [연구방법] 본 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 문헌 연구 방법으로 한국과 중국의 연안 도시 관련 학술지와 사료를 참고하여 분석하였으며, 한국과 중국의 연안 도시 직업교육 시스템의 초기 발전과정과 특성을 살펴보았다. [연구결과] 주요 연구 결과는 첫째, 1876년부터 1908년까지의 시대적·역사적 격변의 시기가 약 148년이라는 시간의 차이를 뛰어넘어 현재 2024년의 사회및 문화의 변동 양상과 상당한 공통점이 있다. 둘째, 다양한 변화와 그에 따른 영향으로 새로운 산업과 기술에 대한 수요가 증가하였으며 변화의 과정을 수용하는 역사적 시점으로 현재를 바라보면 앞으로 나아가야 할 방향성 또한 실마리를 얻게 된다. [결론] 본 연구는 천진과 인천의 초기 근대 직업교육 발달과정을 비교 분석하여 두 지역 직업교육의 초기 발전과정을 조명하고, 이를 통해 현재 직업교육 발전에 미치는 시사점을 도출하였다. 또한, 양국의 역사적 특성에 맞는 직업교육의 발전 방향을 모색하는 것은 한중 양국뿐 아니라 세계 직업교육의 번영에도 기여할 수 있다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

[Purpose] Incheon, Korea and Tianjin, China, have similar geographical environments and have been exchanging for a long time, sharing the commonality that they are cities developed through industrial development and establishment of commerce and industry. Nevertheless, there are no research results on vocational education and local education between the two cities, so this study aims to compare and analyze modern vocational education between Incheon and Tianjin. [Methods] To achieve the purpose of this study, it was analyzed by referring to academic journals and historical sources related to coastal cities in Korea and China as a literature research method, and the initial development process and characteristics of the coastal urban vocational education system in Korea and China were examined. [Results] The main findings are that, first, the period of historical and historical upheaval from 1876 to 1908 exceeded the time difference of about 148 years, which has considerable commonality with the current social and cultural changes in 2024. Second, the demand for new industries and technologies has increased due to various changes and their impact, and looking at the present as a historical point of view that accepts the process of change, the direction to move forward also has a clue. [Conclusion] This study compared and analyzed the development process of early modern vocational education in Tianjin and Incheon to illuminate the early development process of vocational education in the two regions, and through this, its implications for the current development of vocational education were derived.
