영어교육에서 내러티브를 통한 심미적 감수성 함양

Fostering Aesthetic Sensibility through Narrative in English Language Teaching

English education is no longer solely for developing communication skills; the value of beauty in English education needs to be recognized. English education should be socially useful without sacrificing the values of beauty and authenticity. Narrative is an appropriate tool to restore beauty and nourish aesthetic sensibility in our everyday lives including English language teaching classes. The English language curriculum should be redesigned to develop learners’ aesthetic sensibility and creative thinking, and positioned as a subject that aims to cultivate comprehensive literacy. English should be redefined as a core subject that is critical to individual and national prosperity to foster critical thinking, creative expression, aesthetic sensibility, and comprehensive literacy that embraces diverse cultural identities.
