한국과 중국 고등학생의 역함수에 대한 이해와 오류 비교 분석

A comparative analysis of understanding and errors in inverse functions among Korean and Chinese high school students

역함수는 주어진 함수에 대한 되돌리기 함수로서 가역적 추론을 습득할 수 있는 중요한 수학적 주제이다. 국내외 여러 선행 연구에서 고등학생, 대학생 및 예비 수학교사를 대상으로 역함수에 대한 이해를 여러 측면에서 조사하였지만, 대규모 고등학생을 대상으로 국가간 역함수 이해를 비교 분석한 연구는 없었다. 따라서 본 연구는 한국(162명)과 중국 고등학생(47명) 209명을 대상으로 여섯 가지 함수(일차함수, 이차함수, 유리함수, 무리함수, 지수함수, 로그함수)의 역함수를 구하고 그래프를 그리는 설문지 과제를 사용하여 역함수에 대한 이해 정도와 오류 유형을 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과에 따르면, 한국 학생들은 주어진 함수에 대한 역함수 구하기에서 무응답 비율이 절반을 넘은 반면 중국 학생들은 무응답이 없었다. 두 나라 학생들 모두 직선 y=x 대칭을 이용하여 역함수 그래프를 그리지 않았으며 역함수 식과 그래프 사이에 어떤 연결성을 보이지 않았다.

The inverse function is a reverse function of a given function and is an important mathematical topic where students can acquire reversible reasoning. In reviewing various previous studies, it was found that the understanding of inverse functions has been investigated from various perspectives among high school students, college students, and prospective mathematics teachers. However, there has been no study that compares and analyzes the understanding of inverse functions among high school students on an international scale. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed the level of understanding, proficiency, and types of errors related to inverse functions among 209 high school students from Korea (162 students) and China (47 stu dents) using a questionnaire task that involved finding the inverse functions and graphing six types of functions (linear functions, quadratic functions, rational functions, radical functions, exponential functions, and logarithmic functions). From the results of this study, the rate of non-response among Korean students in finding the inverse function of a given function exceeded half, while there were no non-responses from Chinese students. “Students from both countries did not use line symmetry to graph the inverse functions and showed no connection between the inverse function expressions and their graphs.
