지역축제 개막식 주제공연에서의 무용양식 연구 - 2023년 한성백제문화제 사례를 중심으로

A Study on Dance Styles in Theme Performances of Regional Festival Opening Ceremonies: Focused on the 2023 Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival

본 연구는 지역축제에서 진행되는 주제공연의 역할과 표현특성을 탐구함으로써 무용 안무 개발에 기초를 마련하고, 주제공연 안무의 방향성을 제시하는 데목적이 있다. 이를 위해 지역의 특성과 K-컬처의 융성 과정을 무용을 포함한 다양한 장르로 표현한 사례인 2023년 한성백제문화제 주제공연을 분석하였다. 문헌연구를 통해 지역축제 주제공연의 개념 및 효과와 한성백제문화제의 유래및 변천을 고찰하였다. 또한 주제공연의 작품구조를 분석하여 장르의 안배, 무용의 역할을 확인하였다. 무용 작품 분석으로는 자넷 애드쉐드( Janet Adshead Lansdale) 외 3인이 고안한 무용분석법 1단계를 활용하여 구성 요소를 파악하고총체적인 틀을 확인하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 주제공연은 대금연주와 퍼포먼스, 한국무용, 일렉트로닉밴드연주, K-pop 등으로 구성되었으며, 한국의 전통적인 요소와 현대적 표현요소를 다양한 장르로 다채롭게 구현하였다. 특히 소품을 활용한 무용안무는 웅장함과 생동감을 보여줄 수 있는데, 한국 전통 악기 소품은 음악적 요소를 더하여 한국전통문화의 미를 다채롭게 보여줄 수 있는 장점이 있다. 또한한국적 움직임과 지역적 특색을 토대로 이루어진 작품전개는 지역축제 주제공연으로써 적합하였고, 지역축제 핵심내용과 이미지를 확실히 보여줄 수 있었다. 본 연구가 주제공연의 무용역할을 효과적으로 증대시키기 위한 실질적인 기초자료로 활용되길 기대한다.

This study aims to explore the role and expressive characteristics of theme performances in regional festivals to establish a foundation for dance choreography development and provide direction for theme performance choreography. To achieve this, the 2023 Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival’s theme performance, which represented regional characteristics and the integration process of K-culture through various genres including dance, was analyzed. The study conducted a literature review to examine the concepts and impacts of theme performances in regional festivals, as well as the origin and historical evolution of the Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival. Additionally, the structure of the theme performance was analyzed to identify the arrangement of genres and the role of dance. Janet Adshead-Lansdale’s first-stage dance analysis method was employed to systematically examine the components of the performance and understand its overall framework. The key findings of this study are as follows: The theme performance incorporated daegeum performance, Korean traditional dance, electronic band music, and K-pop, achieving a dynamic integration of traditional and contemporary elements. In particular, the use of props in the choreography enhanced the grandeur and vitality of the performance, while traditional Korean instruments enriched the auditory experience, effectively showcasing the aesthetic beauty of Korean traditional culture. Furthermore, the progression of the performance, based on Korean movements and regional characteristics, was found to be well-suited to the theme performance of a regional festival. It effectively conveyed the core content and imagery of the festival. This study is expected to serve as a practical resource for enhancing the role of dance in theme performances at regional festivals.
