기온 변화가 강원도 계절관광산업에 미친 영향

The Impact of Temperature Changes on Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province's Seasonal Tourism Industry

본 연구는 최근 우리나라의 기온 변화가 관광산업에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고 자 하였다. 이를 위해 대표적인 겨울 스포츠 시설인 스키장과 여름 휴양지인 해수욕장의 방문객 수가 기온 변화에 따라 어떻게 변하는지를 분석하였다. 분석 대상 지역은 두 관광지를 모두 보유한 강원특별자치도로 설정하였다. 분석 결과, 겨울 스포츠인 스키장의 경우 평균 기온이 섭씨 0.1도 상승할 때 방문객 수가 통계적으로 유의하게 1.6% 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 대표적인 여름 관광자원인 해수욕장의 경우, 한 달 중 일 최고기온이 섭씨 25도 이상인 날의 수가 방문객 수를 결정하는 중요한 요인으로 확인되었다. 일 최고기온이 섭씨 25도를 초과하는 날이 하루 늘어날 때, 해수욕장 방문객 수는 통계적으로 유의하게 10.4% 증가하는 것으로 추정되었다.

This study empirically analyzes the impact of recent temperature changes in South Korea on the tourism industry. Specifically, it examines how fluctuations in temperature influence visitor numbers at winter sports facilities (such as ski resorts) and summer destinations (such as beaches). The analysis focuses on Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, which features both types of tourist attractions. The analysis revealed that for winter sports facilities like ski resorts, a 0.1캜 increase in average temperature led to a statistically significant 1.6% decrease in visitor numbers. Conversely, for beaches, a representative summer tourism destination, the number of days in a month with daily maximum temperatures exceeding 25캜 was identified as a key factor affecting visitor numbers. When the number of days with a daily maximum temperature exceeding 25캜 increases by one, the number of beach visitors is estimated to statistically and significantly increase by 10.4%.
