A Study on the Relationship between Oral Health Practices, Self-Perceived Health Status, Oral Health Awareness, and OHIP-14 among Collage Students in Hue, Vietnam

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between oral health practices, self-perceived health status, oral health awareness and the OHIP-14 index among university students in the Hue region of Vietnam. Methods: Data were collected from Jan 5 to Jan 10, 2020, and the final analysis subjects were 152 university students. Results: A positive correlation was found between self-perceived health status, oral health awareness and the OHIP-14 index. Physical disability and functional limitations, sub-factors of a impact on oral health practices affected self-perceived health status. Physical disability, sub-factors of a impact on oral health practices affected oral health awareness. Conclusions: The results of this study are expected to help in recognizing the importance of oral health management and in developing and planning professional oral health programs as part of health care strategies in recipient countries within ODA projects.
