본고에서 분석 대상으로 삼은 이영갑의 ｢빨치산｣은 교도소 잡지인 『새길』에 수록된 연재소설이다. 『새길』은 전국 교도소 보급되는 잡지로 재소자를 위해 1948년 창간 후 지금까지 발행되고 있다. ｢빨치산｣은 1953년 5월부터 1954년 4월까지 1년의 기간 동안 총 10회에 걸쳐 연재된 소설로 그동안 학계에서 다루지 않았던 빨치산을 주제로 한 문학작품이다. ｢빨치산｣의 작가 이영갑은 당시 법무부 교정국 소속 교사(敎士) 직위의 교도관이었다. 『새길』은 정부기관에서 발행한 잡지이므로 당시 법무부 교정국의 재소자 관리 및 교화의 시각이 다분히 반영되었다. 그러므로 기존 빨치산 문학의 창작-수용 맥락과 변별점을 중심으로 소설 ｢빨치산｣의 매체 특성, 작가 특성, 독자 특성 등 다양한 맥락을 분석하고 평가할 필요가 있다. 또 전쟁기 국가기관인 교도소에 근무하는 공무원으로서 작가 이영갑에게 이 소설은 형정(刑政)뿐만 아니라 애국심과 사상적 투철함을 증명하는 애국과 반공의 징표였다. 예상독자인 교도소 재소자들에게 이 소설은 사상전향과 이념 확립의 도구로서 작동할 수 있었다. 이처럼 이영갑의 ｢빨치산｣은 작가가 전문 문사가 아님에도 당시 남한에서 문제적 존재로 부각되었던 빨치산을 작품화했다는 의의와 함께 발행 주체의 의도, 작가의 직업 의식과 개인적 사명감, 예상 독자인 재소자의 의식 변화까지 요구하는 매우 다채로운 목적을 품고 있는 작품임을 알 수 있다.

Thus, we can see that Lee Young-gap's “Partisan” a novel published during the Korean War, has a very diverse purpose that requires the intentions of the publisher, the author's sense of professionalism and personal mission, and the change of consciousness of the expected readers, the prison inmates, even though he is not a professional writer.
