1인 가구 노인의 행복에 관한 연구

A study on the happiness of the elderly in single-households

본 연구는 1인 가구 노인의 행복의 실체를 확인하고 이를 지원할 수 있는 제도적 기반을 마련하기 위한 목적을 갖는다. 행복의 주관적 속성은 사회문화적 요인, 환경적 요인 및 노인 계층 내에서도다양한 요인에 따라 다르게 한다. 따라서 노인 계층 내 가장 취약하다고 할 수 있는 1인 가구노인이 무엇을 행복으로 보고 있는지를 파악하여 행복 체감도를 높일 수 있는 제도적 기반을 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 도농복합도시인 Y지역 1인 가구 노인 50명을 대상으로 포토보이스방법을 통해 행복의 경험 이야기를 들어보았다. 연구 결과 한국 노인의 행복은 빈둥지를 채워주는가족, 일상의 취미가 주는 힘, 노년을 함께 보내는 관계, 내 맘의 평화, 여전히 일할 수 있는 기쁨등 5개의 대주제를 도출하였다. 비록 지금은 혼자이지만, 가족을 위해 뭔가를 나눌 수 있고 가족이기뻐하는 것을 보는 것, 가족과의 연락과 가족과 함께 했던 기억이 가장 큰 행복이다. 혼자서 살아가지만 식물을 가꾸며 위로 받고, 취미를 가지고 새로운 도전도 한다. 친구와 함께 하는 일상이 있고새로운 관계에 대한 반가움과 반려가족으로 인한 기쁨도 느낀다. 종교와 쉼, 살아온 기억과 혼자걷는 여정의 평화도 행복이다. 또한 여전히 생산적인 노동을 하며 소득과 자립을 창출해 나갈수 있다는 것도 행복이었다. 이러한 행복개념을 바탕으로 1인 가구 노인의 행복추구를 위한 제도적지원을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study is to identify the reality of happiness of the elderly in single-person households and to establish an institutional foundation to support it. The subjective nature of happiness differs according to socio-cultural factors, environmental factors, and various factors even within the elderly class. Therefore, it was intended to establish an institutional basis to increase the level of happiness by grasping what the elderly in single-person households, who are the most vulnerable in the elderly class, see as happiness. To this end, 50 elderly people in single-person households in Y area, an urban-rural complex city, were told about the experience of happiness through the photo voice method. As a result of the study, five major themes were derived for the happiness of the elderly in Korea: family that fills the empty nest, the strength of daily hobbies, the relationship of spending old age together, peace in my heart, and the joy of still working. The elderly in single-person households in Korea feel the greatest happiness from their families, and they are spending their daily lives comforting and challenging themselves through hobbies. Still, whether it is a human or an animal, finding joy in relationships, while religion, rest, memories of life, and peace in the journey of walking alone are also happiness. It was also happiness to be able to create income and independence by still working productively.
