충북의 철도 노선 변화와 도시공간구조

Railroad line changes and urban spatial structure in Chungbuk -A Focus of Chungbuk Line-

일제강점기 충북지역의 수탈을 목적으로 부설된 충북선은 조치원과 제천 사이를 연결하는 철도이다. 일제강점기에는 조치원에서 충주까지 연결되었으며 해방 이후에 제천까지 확장되었다. 충북선은 여객보다는 강원도 일대의 지하자원을 수송하기 위한 산업철도의 성격이 강하다. 1980년 복선화를 거치면서 충북선의 주요 연선지역인 청주, 증평, 음성, 충주 등의 도시구조변화에 큰 영향을 주었으며 최근에는 충북선 고속화사업과 광역철도개발계획이 수립되어 또 다른 변화가 예상된다. 그러나 충북선의 고속화와 청주공항에 연결되는 광역철도는 공항주변의 개발과 청주의 신도시개발에 초점이 맞춰져 있으며 인구감소로 어려움을 경험하고 있는 충북의 중소도시들은 다소 배제되어 있어 향후 지역소멸 방지를 위한 철도계획이 필요한 상황이다.

The Chungbuk Line, which was built as a private railroad for the purpose of taking over the Chungbuk region of the Japanese occupation, is a railroad that connects Chungcheongbuk-do to Jecheon. During the Japanese occupation, it was connected to Chungju and was extended to Jecheon after liberation. The Chungbuk Line was more of an industrial railroad to transport underground resources in Gangwon-do than passengers. It was double-tracked in 1980, which had a major impact on the urban structure of Cheongju, Jeungpyeong, Eumseong, and Chungju, which are the main connecting areas of the Chungbuk Line, and recently, another change is expected as the Chungbuk Line high-speed project and the Regional Rail Development Plan have been established. However, the high-speed development of the Chungbuk Line and the wide-area railroad connecting to Cheongju Airport are focused on the development around the airport and the development of new cities in Cheongju, and small and medium-sized cities in Chungbuk, which are experiencing difficulties due to population decline, are somewhat excluded, so a railroad plan is needed to prevent the disappearance of regions in the future.
