This paper explores the significant trends of regionalization and digitalization in global supply chains (GSCs). As multinational corporations (MNCs) adapt to a rapidly changing global landscape characterized by rising protectionism and technological advancements, they increasingly favor regional and digital approaches to supply chain management. This study employs the Regional Supply Chain Concentration Index and Complex Network approach to analyze the geographic distribution of regionalized GSCs, highlighting Europe, East Asia, and North America as key hubs. Additionally, the paper examines the transformative impact of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things, on GSCs, facilitating customer-to-manufacturer visibility and adaptability. By quantifying these two trends, this paper contributes to a deeper understanding of the evolving dynamics of global supply chains and their implications for APEC’s strategic goals, such as the Internet and Digital Economy Roadmap, to advance digital innovation and economic integration across the Asia-Pacific region.
