[Book Review] Embodying Language in Action: The Artistry of Process Drama in Second Language Education

This paper reviews EriKa Piazzoli's book Embody Language in Action: The Artistry of Process Drama in Second Language Education, published in 2018. The book explores process drama as a form of performative learning in Second language (L2) education. It provides valuable theoretical foundations and practical resources for educators and researchers. This article overviews the book's central argument in each part. Then, it introduces the concept of performative learning, which considers the arts as a learning method through embodied experiences. Lastly, it explores key aspects of process drama in language learning: artistry, embodied learning, and reflexive action, as the author emphasized. The book highlights the importance of learning through performative learning, which helps emotional engagement and authentic and meaningful interaction.
