국어교육에서 시민교육의 방향성과 가능성 - 2022 개정 국어과 교육과정과 시민교육의 연계성 분석

Direction and Possibility of Citizenship Education in Korean Language Education : Analysis of the Connection between the 2022 Revised Korean Language Curriculum and Citizenship Education

목적: 이 연구의 목적은 2022 개정 국어과 교육과정을 분석하여 국어과 교육에서 시민교육의 방향성을 규명하고 국어교육이 시민교육과 호혜적 관계를 형성하기 위한 방안을 탐구하는 것이다. 방법: 시민교육의 요소들이 2022 개정 국어과 교육과정의 어떤 방식으로 반영되었는지 분석하기 위해 국어과 하위영역별 전문가들과 연구진 간 교차 검토를 하였다. 결과: 국어과 하위 영역들은 대체로 시민교육의 요소와 상당한 연계성을 지니고 있었다. 전체적으로는 중등학교급에서 시민교육의 요소가 더 많이 반영되는 경향이 있었고, 시민의 정치 행위와 관련된 요소와의 연관성은 약했다. 결론: 향후 국어과 교육과정에서 시민교육 요소의 체계적 반영과 교육적 실천을 위해서는 국어교육의 정체성을 유지하면서 시민교육의 지향을 충족하는 방안을 모색하고, 국어과 교육 내용과 방법에 디지털 시민성과 공동체 문제에의 참여 관련 요소를 적극적으로 반영하며, 국어교육의 관점에서 시민교육의 의미를 재개념화하고 시민교육의 요소를 정교화할 필요가 있다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the revised 2022 Korean language curriculum to identify the direction of citizenship education in Korean language education and examine how Korean language education fosters citizenship. Methods: To analyze how the elements of citizenship education were reflected in the revised 2022 Korean language curriculum, a cross-review was conducted between experts and researchers in each subfield of the Korean language. Results: The sub-fields of the Korean language department generally had considerable connections with elements of citizenship education. Overall, there was a tendency for elements of citizenship education to be reflected more at the secondary school level, and the connection with elements related to citizens’ political engagement was weak. Conclusion: In order to systematically reflect and educationally practice the elements of citizenship education in the future Korean language curriculum, it is necessary to seek ways to meet the goals of citizenship education while preserving the unique identity of Korean language education, incorporate elements related to digital citizenship and participation in community issues in the Korean language curriculum, and reconceptualize the meaning of citizenship education from the perspective of Korean language education and refine the elements of citizenship education.
