목적: 본 연구는 학문 목적 한국어를 위한 본질적 교육과정 구축을 전제로, 학문 목적 한국어 현상을 범시태로 간주하며 관련되는 언어정책사적 사건을 해석하여, 교육적 가치를 도출해 냄으로써 학문 목적 한국어 현상에 대한 교육 내용화를 시도하였다. 방법: 이를 위하여 두 문화권의 학습자 유형을 가정하고 학습자가 겪을 인지적·정의적 어려움을 중심으로, 학습자의 요구를 거점 개념으로 도출해 내었다. ‘학문 목적 한국어’에 대한 스코프가 다양화될 수 있도록 거점 개념과 관련 있는 언어정책사적 사건을 선택하고, 이에 대한 교육적 가치를 풍부히 해석한다. 결과: 현대적 학문 목적 한국어의 시작은 근대 계몽기 이후이며, 교육적 가치는 근대 계몽기 이전과 이후로 나누어 다각도로 도출해 낼 수 있다. 학문에 대한 인식, 언어공동체가 학문의 매체로 우선 선택하는 문자 체계에 대한 인식에 따라 ‘어휘 교육, 읽기 교육, 다중언어적 인식, 번역’에 대한 스코프를 확장할 수 있었다. 결론: 이 연구는 학문 목적 한국어의 교육 내용화 연구에 대한 이론적 관심을 촉발할 수 있을 것이며, 장기적으로는 본질적 교육과정의 이론적 모형을 구축하는 데 기여할 것이다.
Purpose: This study explores the content of Korean language instruction for academic purposes in order to design instructional content that can be organized. Methods: To this end, learner needs are derived as anchor concepts, centering on the cognitive and defining difficulties learners will face before reaching the goals they need to reach, given the types of learners from both cultures and the language communities they belong to. To enrich the scope and depth of the discussion of ‘Korean for Academic Purposes’, we select events in the history of language policy that are relevant to the anchor concept and interpret their pedagogical value. Results: Korean for Academic Purposes has evolved in response to the Korean community’s perception of academia and the language community’s preferred writing system as a medium of scholarship. In particular, modern academic Korean has its origins in the post-Modern Enlightenment period, and its educational value for both types of learners can be derived in different ways from the pre- and post-Modern Enlightenment periods. Conclusion: This study can contribute to future research on the educational contentization of Korean for academic purposes.
