Objective: This study is a basic study for forming a Q population when applying Q methodology. The purpose of this study is to identify elementary school teachers’ perceptions of the system and role of professional counselors through FGI. Methods: To this end, we conducted an FGI with six teachers currently working in elementary schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. We analyzed the FGI data and presented the results. Results: Based on this, it was determined that it is necessary to strengthen policy and institutional support for specialized counseling teachers, such as strengthening the capacity of specialized counseling teachers, providing training support and creating an environment for efficient counseling work, increasing the number of specialized counseling teachers, and hiring specialized counseling teachers with experience in elementary education, in order to smoothly perform their roles and improve the quality of counseling. Conclusions: The results of this study can be used as basic data for forming a Q population when studying the perception of specialized counseling teachers using the Q methodology, and it is expected to be provided as basic data for improving the efficiency of elementary school specialized counseling teachers' counseling work and the quality of counseling.
