Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the mediating effect of parenting stress and the moderated mediating effect of family support in the path where acceptance of disability by the mother affects life satisfaction. In this study, family support was classified into four sub-factors: emotional, informational, material, and evaluative support. Methods: A survey involving 237 mothers raising children with developmental disabilities under the age of 18 was conducted. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and PROCESS macro v.4.2. Results: First, the mediating effect of parenting stress in the relationship between disability acceptance and life satisfaction of mothers of children with developmental disabilities was statistically significant. Disability acceptance did not have a direct effect on life satisfaction, only showing an indirect effect through parenting stress. Second, only informational support and material support among the four family support sub-factors showed statistically significant moderated mediating effects. Conclusions: The present study suggests that it is very important to manage parenting stress directly to increase the life satisfaction of mothers of children with developmental disabilities. This study also confirms that informational and material forms of family support are protective factors that can alleviate parenting stress.
