This study examines the features of Korean economy courses at the major Southeast Asian universities, focusing on the economic development of Korea, which formed the foundation of Korean studies in Southeast Asia and became the driving force behind the growth of Korean studies. Korean economic courses at Southeast Asian universities are offered as independent courses in Korean studies departments, and they intensively shed light on the background and development process of Korean economic development, factors of development, crises and overcoming them, and the entire process up to the present. The focus of the course is on Korea’s experience of achieving rapid economic growth in a short period of time and joining the ranks of advanced countries, and through this economic development experience of Korea, we can read about Southeast Asian countries’ efforts to drive their own economic development. In addition, courses related to the Korean economy include content that can be directly applied to corporate practice for the purpose of employment after graduation, and even intermediate-level Korean language education courses cover topics such as economics, commerce, finance, banking, and management.
