This study aims to analyze domestic and international research trends on Early Childhood Global Citizenship Education (GCE) to explore the current state and future directions of global citizenship education in the field of early childhood education. For this purpose, academic papers, dissertations, and other key literature published up to November 2024 were comprehensively reviewed, focusing on research topics, methodologies, educational content, program development, and implementation cases. The analysis revealed that early childhood global citizenship education is centered on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encompassing diverse themes such as environmental education, human rights education, multicultural education, and peace education, primarily utilizing experience-based and integrated approaches. Furthermore, an increasing number of studies have empirically demonstrated the positive effects of global citizenship education on children's attitudes, values, problem-solving skills, and collaborative thinking. However, the research remains in its early stages, with insufficient practical application and evaluation frameworks. Based on these trends and limitations, this study provides implications for future research and educational practices. It aims to contribute to positioning early childhood global citizenship education as a central pillar of early childhood education in the global era.
