부모의 방임이 다문화청소년의 학업중단에 미치는 영향: 교사관계와 학교적응의 이중매개효과

The Influence of Parental Neglect on School Dropout among Multicultural Adolescents: The Double Mediation Effect of Teacher Relationships and School Adjustment

한국 사회에서 다문화 청소년이 지속적으로 증가함에 따라(교육기본통계, 2023) 다문화 청소년의 특성 및 적응에 대한 연구 의 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 특히 다문화 청소년의 학업중단율이 일반 청소년에 비해 높아 다문화 청소년의 학업중단 위험요인 에 대한 연구 필요성이 존재한다. 본 연구는 부모의 방임이 다문화 청소년의 학업중단에 미치는 영향에 있어 교사 관계와 학교 적응의 이중매개효과에 대해 검증하고자 하였다. 분석에는 SPSS process macro(model 6)가 사용되었다. 다문화청소년패널데이 터 중 2019년 9차 데이터를 활용하였으며 총 1,146명의 자료가 포함되었다. 연구 결과 부모의 방임은 교사 관계와 학교적응을 통해 생활 및 태도 관련 학업중단 위험요인 및 친구 및 선후배 관련 학업중단 위험요인 모두에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 구체적으 로, 생활 및 태도 관련 학업중단 위험요인에는 학교 부적응이, 친구 및 선후배 관련 학업중단 위험요인에는 학교적응이 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 다문화 청소년의 학업중단에 있어 적절한 개입 방법을 제시하였다.

As the population of multicultural adolescents in Korean society continues to grow(Basic Educational Statistics, 2023), the need for research on the characteristics and adaptation of these adolescents is growing. In particular, multicultural adolescents have a higher school dropout rate compared to their non-multicultural peers, which underscores the need to study risk factors related to dropout among these adolescents. This study aims to examine the double mediation effect of teacher relationships and school adjustment on the influence of parental neglect on school dropout among multicultural adolescents. SPSS Process Macro (Model 6) was used for analysis, utilizing data from the 9th wave (2019) of the first wave of the Multicultural Adolescent Panel Data, with a sample of 1,146 participants. The results show that parental neglect significantly influences both lifestyle and attitude-related school dropout risk factors, as well as dropout risk factors related to peer and senior-junior relationships, through teacher relationships and school adjustment. Specifically, school maladjustment affects lifestyle and attitude-related dropout risk factors, while school adjustment impacts dropout risk factors related to peer and senior-junior relationships. Based on these findings, this study suggests appropriate intervention methods to address school dropout among multicultural adolescents.
