대학생의 돌봄에 대한 인식이 다문화 역량에 미치는 영향

The Impact of Students' Perception of care on Multicultural Competence

본 연구는 221명의 대학생을 대상으로 돌봄 인식과 다문화 역량 간의 관련성을 살핀 횡단적 상관관계 연구이다. 분석 결과, 돌봄을 중요하게 여기는 정도가 높을수록 다문화 역량 역시 유의하게 향상되었다. 또한 외국인과의 접촉 경험, 외국어 능력, 학년별 임상실습 경험 등은 다문화 역량에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 요인으로 확인되었다. 간호교육 과정에서 돌봄 가치관을 공고히 하고 다양한 문화적 배경을 반영한 교육 프로그램을 도입함으로써 학생들의 문화적 감수성을 함양하고, 최종적으로 여러 문화권 대상자에게 보다 전문적이고 전인적인 돌봄을 제공할 수 있는 간호인재 양성에 기여할 수 있음을 시사한다. 아울러 향후 연구에서는 지역적·교육적 특성을 종합적으로 고려한 장기적 관찰이나 질적 접근을 통해 다문화 역량 형성 과정에 대한 심층적 이해가 필요하다.

This cross-sectional correlational study explored how nursing students’ perception of care is related to their multicultural competence. Among a sample of 221 participants, those who placed greater importance on care were more likely to demonstrate higher levels of multicultural competence. Additionally, factors such as personal contact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, foreign language proficiency, and clinical experience by academic year were identified as positive contributors to enhancing multicultural competence. These findings suggest that strengthening core caring values and integrating culturally inclusive educational programs into nursing curricula can heighten students’ cultural sensitivity. In turn, this can help nurture nurses capable of delivering holistic, culturally attuned care in increasingly diverse healthcare settings. Future research should employ longitudinal methods and qualitative approaches across various educational contexts to gain deeper insights into the process by which multicultural competence develops.
