In recent years, with the rise of female directors and increasing social attention to female issues, the portrayal of female characters in Chinese comedy films has undergone significant changes. Female characters are no longer mere adjuncts or tools for amusement to male protagonists but are beginning to become the main narrators and showcase more diverse and rich female stories. This paper analyzes the multi-dimensional construction of female images, the visual and auditory expression of female bodies, and the visual and auditory presentation of female characters based on Cheng Zhanxiang’s proposed somaesthetics “trichotomy”. The study reveals the transformation of female characters from traditional stereotypes to independent and diverse images, which not only reflects the progress of film art but also reflects society’s profound understanding and recognition of gender equality and cultural diversity. The article concludes that the portrayal and representation of female characters in future Chinese comedy films creation should continue to be enriched and improved to promote further understanding and recognition of gender equality and cultural diversity in society.
