신국가 건설기 홍익인간 교육이념의 정립 과정에 대한 재고찰

A Study on the Establishment Process of Hongik Human Educational Ideology during the Construction of a New State

연구목적 연구 목적 이 연구는 우리나라의 기본 교육이념인 홍익인간 사상이 너무 포괄적이고 추상적임을 지적하고, 구체적이고 민주적인 새로운 교육이념의 필요성을 제기하기 위해 작성하였다. 연구방법 홍익인간 이념에 대한 많은 논문들을 검토하는 것을 기본으로, 홍익인간 사상이 들어있는 고전들의 내용을 검토함으로써 교육이념으로서 타당성을 입증하는 방식으로 서술하였다. 연구결과 해방 후 단군민족주의가 성행하는 분위기 속에서 단군신화 속의 홍익인간 사상이 대한민국의 교육이념으로 자리 잡았다. 그러나 홍익인간 사상은 채택 당시부터 신화에 토대한 관념이고, ‘국민이 주인인 나라 건설’이라는 시대 과제에도 어울리지 않는다는 비판이 있었다. 그 사상의 유래 또한 고려 후기 불교사상을 배경으로 나온 개념임을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 21세기 대한민국의 교육이념이라면 보편적이고 민주적 가치라는 인류의 보편성을 아우르는 개념의 도출이 중요하다는 점에서 홍익인간 교육이념을 이제는 새로운 이념으로 모색해 보는 것이 필요하다고 하였다. 결론 21세기 대한민국의 교육이념이라면 보편적이고 민주적 가치라는 인류의 보편성을 아우르는 개념의 도출이 중요할 것이다. 그러한 점에서 고려 후기 불교사상을 배경으로 하고 있는 홍익인간 교육이념을 이제는 새로운 이념으로 모색해 보는 것도 필요하다고 생각한다.

Purpose: This study was prepared to point out that the basic educational ideology of Korea, Hongik Human Thought, is too comprehensive and abstract, and to raise the need for a concrete and democratic new educational ideology. Methods: It has been described in a way that proves the validity of Hongik human thought as an educational ideology by reviewing many papers written on Hongik human and the contents of classics containing Hongik human thought. Results: After liberation, the Hongik human idea in the Dangun myth became Korea's educational ideology in an atmosphere where Dangun nationalism was prevalent. However, since its adoption, there have been criticisms that the Hongik human idea is a concept based on myths and does not fit the task of the era of 'building a country where the people are the masters'. The review revealed that the concept originated from Buddhist thought in the late Goryeo Dynasty. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the Hongik human educational ideology as a new ideology in that it is important to derive a concept that encompasses the universality of humanity, which is universal and democratic value, in the 21st century of Korea's educational ideology. Conclusion: If it is the educational ideology of Korea in the 21st century, it will be important to derive a concept encompassing the universality of humanity of universal and democratic values. In this regard, I think it is necessary to explore the educational ideology of Hongik, which is based on Buddhist ideology in the late Goryeo Dynasty, as a new ideology.
