A Preliminary Exploration of the Chinese Philosophy of Life: The Concept of Destiny

In daily communication, “fate” or “destiny” a frequently used word, which constitute the basic cognition of Chinese people’s life experience. Since ancient times, sages and philosophers have deeply explored the nature of “fate”, “fortune” and “destiny”, and put forward their own views. The purpose of this study is to explore the historical evolution of the “view of destiny”, and to systematically sort out three important views of fate, namely, fate theory, fate change theory, and fate creation. Through the review and analysis of historical documents, reshaping important thoughts about “fate” or” “destiny” will have a positive impact on people's construction of a correct outlook on fate, life, values and world.

在日常交流中，“命”或“命运”是频繁出现的词汇，它们构成了中国人对生命体验的基本认知。自古以来，对于“命”“运”以及“命运”的本质，历代圣贤先哲们进行了深入的探索，并提出了各自时代的见解。本研究旨在探讨“命运观”的历史演变，并对命定论、命变论、见性立命这三种重要的命运观进行系统梳理。通过对历史文献的回顾与分析，重塑关于“命”或“命运”的重要思想，将对人们构建正确的命运观、人生观、价值观和世界观产生积极影响。
