로고스 찬가의 개념적 은유와 환유

Conceptual Metaphors and Metonymies in the Logos Hymn

이 연구는 인지언어학적 관점에서 종교적, 문화적 개념으로 가득한 요한복음, 그 가운데 로고스 찬가(요한 1,1-18)의 개념적 은유와 환유 전체를 분석하는 의미론적 연구다. 이 연구를 통해 로고스 찬가에 나오는 모든 추상명사가 ｢개체 은유｣를 기반으로 하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 물리적 경계가 없는대상에 물리적 경계를 부여하는 ｢그릇 은유｣도 활용되고 있음을 확인할 수있다. 또한, 로고스 찬가에서 ｢시간 은유｣, ｢빛/어둠 은유｣, ｢수용/파지 은유｣ 와 같은 개념적 은유가 사용되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 과정 중에 본고는 하나의 어휘가 항상 동일한 영상 도식으로 발현하지 않고, 발화 과정에서 변화되는 일종의 정신적인 시뮬레이션임을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 동의어처럼 보이는 어휘도 미세한 표현의 차이와 문맥 안에서 각기 다른 개념화과정이 일어난다는 점도 확인할 수 있다. 개념적 환유와 관련해서 본고는 ｢부분이 전체를 대신한다｣와 ｢전체가 부분을 대신한다｣라는 두 가지 개념적환유를 분석하였다. 이 작업을 통해 본 연구는 개념적 환유가 다분히 사회적방언의 특징을 지니고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 실제, 개념적 환유는 인지적 경제성을 위해서도 중요한 역할을 하지만, 동일한 담화 공동체 안에 속해 있음을 드러낼 수 있는 중요한 요소가 된다.

This study is a semantic study that analyzes the conceptual metaphors and metonymies of the Logos hymn(John 1,1-18), full of religious and cultural concepts, based on a cognitive linguistic perspective. This study shows that not only are all the abstract nouns in the Logos hymn based on object metaphors, but also the container metaphor, which gives physical boundaries to objects that have no physical boundaries, is utilized. In addition, conceptual metaphors such as the TIME metaphor, LIGHT/DARK metaphor, and RECEIVE/TAKE metaphor were identified in the Logos Hymn. In addition, a single lexeme does not always appear in the same schema, but is a kind of mental simulation that changes during the course of utterance. And this study shows that even seemingly synonymous lexemes have subtle differences in wording and different conceptualization processes in different contexts. Regarding conceptual metonymy, this study analyzed two types of conceptual metonymy: THE PART FOR THE WHOLE and THE WHOLE FOR THE PART. This work has shown that conceptual metonymy is characterized as a social dialect. In fact, conceptual metaphors are not only important for economical cognition, but also for revealing belonging to the same discourse community.
