영성신학의 연구 대상으로서 “영적 체험”이 넓게 받아들여지고 있기에“체험”을 연구하기 위한 적절한 방법론이 무엇인지에 대한 물음이 제기된다. 본고에서는 영적 체험의 주관적, 질적 연구를 가능하게 하는 현상학-해석학적 방법론 중 하나인 자스 프리스 데 콜(R. Zas Fris de Col)의 이론을 제시하고 분석한다. 이 방법론은 공시적 분석과 통시적 분석으로 이루어졌다. 공시적인 접근은 “하나의 체험”을 분석하는 것이다. 그리스도인의 영적 체험의구조는 네 개의 축과 여섯 개의 기록으로 구성된다. 역사와 종말, 은총과 본성, 말씀/성령과 교회, 삼위일체 하느님과 인간이라는 네 개의 축으로 하느님과 인간의 관계를 개념화하고, 이 체험을 인간적인 언어로 표현할 수 있는여섯 개의 기록 유형을 제시한다. 이러한 영적 체험을 다섯 수준으로 구분하여 분석하는데, 그 수준은 현상-신비적 수준, 현상-해석학적 수준, 비평-문화적 수준, 결정-실천적 수준, 대신적 태도 수준이다. 통시적인 접근은 시간 안에서 일어난 체험들을 분석하고 그 변화를 추적한다. 이 방법론의 궁극적인관심은 거룩한 신비와 만난 인간 실존의 “변형”이기 때문에, 하나의 체험을분석하는 것보다 여러 체험이 통합된 그의 전체 삶이 더 중요하다. 통시적인연구를 위해서 영적 여정의 여섯 단계를 제시하는데, 시작-개인화-내면화-위기-성숙-죽음과 영광이다. 이 방법론은 영선신학의 내학문적(intra-disciplinary) 이며 제학문적(inter-disciplinary)인 성격을 잘 드러내며, 영적 체험을 분석하기 위한 참조 목록을 제공한다. 체험에 결정이라는 외적이고 실천적인 요소를 강조한 방법론이고, 그리스도인의 적용이라고 할 수 있는 신비교육적 단계가 생략되어 있지만, 포함시킬 수 있는 가능성은 충분하다.
Since “spiritual experience” is widely accepted as a research object in spiritual theology, the question arises as to what the appropriate method is to study “experience.” In this paper, we present and analyze R. Zas Fris de Col’s theory, one of the phenomenal-hermeneutic methodo that enables subjective and qualitative research on spiritual experience. This method consisted of synchronic and diachronic analysis. The synchronic approach is to analyze “an experience”. The structure of Christian spiritual experience consists of four axes and six registers. It conceptualizes the relationship between God and humans along four axes: history and eschatology, grace and nature, Word/Holy Spirit and Church, and the Trinity God and humans, and presents six types of records that can express this experience in human language. These spiritual experiences are analyzed by dividing them into five levels: the phenomenal-mystical level, the phenomenological-hermeneutic level, the critical-cultural level, the decision-practical level, and the theological attitude level. The diachronic approach analyzes experiences that occurred within time and tracks their changes. Since the ultimate interest of this method is the “transformation” of human existence through encounter with the Mystery, his totality of life, which integrates multiple experiences, is more important than analyzing a single experience. For diachronic study, six stages of the spiritual path are presented: initiation, personalization, internalization, crisis, maturity,death and glory. This method clearly demonstrates the intra-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary and provides a reference list for analyzing spiritual experiences. It is a method that emphasizes the external and practical element of experience such as decision-making, and although it omits the mystagogy stage as it applies to the Christian life, there is ample possibility of including it.
