그리스도인 일치 촉진부 장관인 쿠르트 코흐 추기경(Card. Kurt Koch, 1950 -)이 2022년 10월 27일에 세르비아의 베오그라드 대교구에서 한 강연이다. 저자는 니케아 공의회를 교회일치적 관점에서 제시한다. 325년 니케아에서 열린 첫 보편 공의회의 “성부와 동일본질”이라는 그리스도론적 정식(定 式)은 이후의 모든 공의회의 토대가 될 뿐만 아니라 모든 그리스도교 교회의 공통된 신앙고백이다. 하지만 오늘날 퍼지고 있는 아리우스주의적인 예수에 대한 이해는 이 신앙고백에 충분한 주의를 기울여야 한다는 것을 역설한다. 아울러 니케아 공의회는 부활절의 날짜를 확정하면서 모든 그리스도교 공동체가 한 날짜에 공통적으로 부활절을 거행하는 토대가 된다. 그리스도교의 역사에서 부활절의 날짜는 달라졌지만, 2025년 4월 20일에 모든 그리스도교 교회가 공통적으로 부활절을 거행하는 것은 교회일치운동에 매우큰 의미가 있다. 아울러 부활절 날짜에 대한 문제는 히브리 파스카의 날짜와도 연계되어야 한다고 저자는 강조한다. 사실, 니케아 공의회는 처음으로 시노드적 방식을 교회에 제시한 것인데, 이는 교회일치운동의 핵심이 된다. 아울러 니케아 공의회는 정부와 교회의 관계 설정에도 지침이 되는데, 오늘날정부와 교회의 관계가 ‘분리’의 파트너가 되어야 하는지 혹은 ‘조화’의 파트너가 되어야 하는지 물음을 던진다.

This is a lecture given by Cardinal Kurt Koch (1950 -), the Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, at the Archdiocese of Belgrade, Serbia, on October 27, 2022. The author presents the Council of Nicaea from an ecumenical perspective. The Christological formula of “consubstantial with the Father” of the first ecumenical council held in Nicaea in 325 not only serves as the foundation for all subsequent councils, but also as the common creed of all Christian churches. However, the Arian understanding of Jesus that is spreading today emphasizes that sufficient attention must be paid to this creed of faith. In addition, the Council of Nicaea established the date of Easter, which became the foundation for all Christian communities to celebrate Easter on the same date. Although the date of Easter has changed throughout the history of Christianity, it is very significant for the ecumenical movement that all Christian churches celebrate Easter on April 20, 2025. The author also emphasizes that the issue of the date of Easter should be linked to the date of the Hebrew Passover. In fact, the Council of Nicaea first presented the synodal method to the church, which became the core of the ecumenical movement. In addition, the Council of Nicaea also provided guidelines for establishing the relationship between the Government and the Church, and asks the question of whether the relationship between the government and the church today should be partners of ‘separation’ or partners of ‘simphony’.
