포괄적 유물론에 비추어 본 인공지능 통합 수학교육의 기회와 도전

Opportunities and Challenges of Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Mathematics Education: A Perspective from Inclusive Materialism

본 연구는 인공지능 기술을 수학교육에 접목하려는 다양한 시도의 적절성을 검토하는 이론적 관점을 제시하는 데 초점을 둔다. 수학교육에 인공지능을 활용하는 접근은 활발히 이루어지고 있으나, 그 교육적 효과와 한계에 대한 이론적 논의는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구는 도구 통합(Instrumental Orchestration, IO) 이론에 근거하여 인공지능 통합 수학교육의 의미를 확인하고, 포괄적 유물론의 관점을 활용하여 인공지능 통합 수학교육으로부터 기대하는 기회와 예상되는 도전 과제를 탐색하는 데 목표를 두었다. 연구 결과, 인공지능 통합 수학교육에서는 인공지능 툴의 제약 사항과 가능성, 개별 학습자의 지식과 학습 방법 사이의 상호작용에 의한 도구 생성을 초점으로 해야 함을 확인하였다. 아울러 비인간 주체로서 인공지능의 행위성과 그 활용 방식의 적절성과 예상되는 위험 요인을 파악하여 인공지능 통합 수학교육의 기회와 도전 과제를 도출하였다. 마지막으로 인공지능 통합 수학교육의 가능성과 유의 사항을 정돈하여 향후 관련 연구와 실천에 시사하는 바를 제시하였다.

This study focuses on presenting a theoretical perspective to examine the appropriateness of various attempts to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into mathematics education. While approaches to utilizing AI in mathematics education are actively developing, theoretical discussions on their educational effectiveness and limitations remain insufficient. Grounded in the framework of Instrumental Orchestration (IO) theory, this study aims to identify the significance of AI-integrated mathematics education and explore the opportunities and anticipated challenges of this integration through the lens of inclusive materialism. The findings indicate that AI-integrated mathematics education should emphasize the interplay between the constraints and potentials of AI tools and the knowledge and learning processes of individual learners, leading to the instrumental genesis Additionally, by addressing the agency of AI as a non-human agent, this study identifies the appropriateness of its applications and associated risks, thereby deriving opportunities and challenges for AI-integrated mathematics education. Finally, the study organizes the possibilities and considerations of AI-integrated mathematics education, offering implications for future research and practice.
