Designing Mathematical Tasks that Enhance Students’ Engagement with Mathematics

본 연구는 학생 참여를 높이는 수학 과제의 조건을 분석하여 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 과제의 목표가 단순하고 명확해야 한다. 둘째, 학생이 과제 해결 과정에서 선택권을 가질 수 있어야 한다. 셋째, 과제의 난이도가 학생 수준에 따라 유연하게 변화될 수 있어야 한다. 이러한 조건을 고려하여 과제를 개발하였고 이를 적용한 결과 학생들의 수학적 참여가 높아진 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 각각의 조건들이 서로에게 영향을 주면서 학생 참여의 선순환을 이룰 수 있었다.

This study analyzed the characteristics of mathematical tasks that enhance student engagement and identified the following key features. First, the task's objective should be simple and clear. Second, students should have the ability to make choices during the task-solving process. Third, the difficulty of the task should be adaptable to students’ skill levels. Tasks incorporating these features were developed and implemented, and the results showed increased student engagement in mathematical activities.
