The Effect of Women's Health Nursing Practicum on Clinical Competency in Nursing Students

Purpose : This study examines the impact of women’s health nursing practicum on clinical performance abilities in nursing students, focusing on the mediating effects of clinical practice satisfaction and nursing professionalism. Methods : A total of 140 nursing students in their third and fourth year from two universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province participated in this study. Data collection was conducted from November 13 to December 30, 2024. Data analysis was performed using SPSS WIN 25.0 program, including descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA. Post-analysis was conducted using Scheffé’s test. The correlation between variables was assessed using Pearson’s correlation analysis, and the impact on clinical performance abilities was examined through multiple regression analysis. Results : Multiple regression analysis indicated that nursing professionalism (β = .209, p < .001) had a greater influence on clinical performance abilities than clinical practice satisfaction (β = .114, p < .029). The total explanatory power of the model was 24.5%. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and apply various teaching and learning programs that enhance nursing professionalism and clinical practice satisfaction in obstetrics and gynecology clinical practice education for nursing students. Further research on this topic is also recommended.
