慶山지역 고대 사회적 분절 이해의 기초 - ‘林堂ㆍ造永 古墳群’ 내 군집 파악을 위한 공간분석

Basal Approaches for Understanding Ancient Social Segments in Gyeongsan Region : Spatial Analyses to Identify Groups at the Imdang-Joyeong Ancient Cemetery Site

종ㆍ횡의 균열은 한 사회의 구성원들을 다양한 분절로 나뉘게 한다. 고고학에서 분묘자료는 그러한 분절을 이해하는 중요한 경로가 되어왔다. 임당ㆍ조영 고분군은 국가형성기 경산은 물론 영남지역 전체에서 종ㆍ횡의 균열이 어떠한 방식으로 매장자료에 반영되었는지를 살펴볼 중요한 기회를 제공할 것으로 기대된다. 이런 기대 속에 본고는 당시 사회적 분절을 반영했을 고분군 내 군집을 파악하고자 한다. 이런 시도에는 개별 분묘에 대한 단계 비정 및 좌표 설정, 고분군 전체에 대한 점유표면분석 등의 작업이 포함된다. 편년을 통해 4단계로 나뉜 개별 분묘들에 대한 군집 파악 작업으로 사회적 분절 변천의 일면을 파악할 수 있었다. 고총이 들어서는 단계에 분절의 수나 복잡성이 최고조에 달한다. 이런 관찰은 향후 군집 내부의 분묘들에 대한 다른 갈래의 분석, 예를 들어 유물 및 인간 유해 분석을 통해 당시 사회적 분절의 양태를 좀 더 체계적이고 동태적으로 이해하는 밑거름이 될 것이다.

A society can be divided into segments by vertical and horizontal cleavages. In archaeology, burial data have suggested a meaningful path to understanding the social segments. The Imdang-Joyeong ancient cemetery site is likely to provide an opportunity for us to explore how vertical and horizontal cleavages were represented in mortuary practice in the process of state formation in Gyeongsan and Youngnam regions. With this expectation, this paper attempts at detecting clusters of burials representing the social segments at the site. This attempt includes determining chronological affiliation and coordinates of individual burials and generating occupational surfaces of the entire cemetery. Some aspect of changes in social segmentation are observed through the four stages from the analytical results. In terms of number and complexity of segments Stage Ⅲ, the time when huge tumuli were added to the cemetery. Such observations would provide basis for understanding ancient social segments in systematic and dynamic fashion through the various lines of analysis, such as the analyses of artifacts and human remains in the future.
