The Impact of Professors' Empathetic Leadership on Employment Intentions through Professor Trust and Self-Efficacy : Focused on College Students Enrolled in Coffee Courses
- 35
This study investigates the impact of empathetic leadership on students' trust in professors, self-efficacy, and employment intentions within coffeerelated education programs at colleges. A survey was conducted among 226 students enrolled in coffee education courses in colleges located in Jeollanamdo and Gwangju, South Korea. Data analysis was pe rformed using SPSS 28.0 and Amos 28.0, employing frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling. The results reveal that e mpathetic leadership significantly enhances students’ trust in professors but does not directly influence self-efficacy or employment intentions. However, trust in professors positively impacts self-efficacy, and self-efficacy significantly influences employment intentions. These findings highlight the critical role of empathetic leadership in fostering a supportive educational environment. While its direct effects on self-efficacy and employment intentions were minimal, empathetic leadership indirectly enhances career preparation by promoting trust in professors and increasing self-efficacy. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of leadership in education, emphasizing the importance of trust and self-efficacy in shaping students’ career readiness. Practical implications include the need for educators to adopt empathetic engagement and trust-building strategies to better support students’ academic and career aspirations.
