A Study on the Influencing Factors of Korean Cruise Travel Constraints

This study aims to provide basic data for fostering the Korean cruise source market and revitalizing the cruise industry. It analyzes the constraints that Koreans perceive about cruise travel, the influencing factors of these constraints, and their impact on behavioral intentions. To this end, this study reviewed prior research and empirical analysis. We developed a structured questionnaire based on cruise travel constraints, constraints influencing factors, and behavioral intentions. The survey conducted an online survey of Korean adults over the age of 20. A total of 284 valid responses were used in the analysis. As a result of the analysis, cruise travel constraints consist of personal and structural factors, and it was found that personal constraints such as health problems and interpersonal discomfort had a greater negative effect on behavioral intentions than structural constraints such as cost and lack of information. In addition, the proposed demographic characteristics, travel experience, and preference as influencing factors were found to have a significant correlation with travel constraints. In particular, travel experience and preference were significant factors in lowering awareness of constraints. Differences in perception of constraints were also identified according to demographic factors such as gender, income, and age. Theoretical and practical implications were proposed for the conclusion.
