Purpose: This study employs bibliometric analysis to provide a comprehensive overview of the research landscape, utilizing visual scientific mapping to examine the development and trends in green finance. Design/methodology/approach: A combination of the Bibliometric package in R and VOSviewer 1.6.20 software was employed to visualize the data, enabling a detailed examination of related publications to assess the research scope, impact, key contributors, and emerging trends. Findings: China is the most prolific contributor, with 45,679 citations. The analysis identified seven distinct clusters of closely connected countries, each aligned to critical themes such as sustainable finance, climate change, energy and resource management, financial innovation technologies, and the relationship between economics and green finance. Research limitations/implications: Research must engage deeply with related disciplines and technologies to pro-duce real-world green finance solutions. This necessitates rigorous scholarship and industry collaboration to steer finance toward sustainability. Originality/value: These findings highlight the increasing prominence of green finance research and its growing influence on global sustainability efforts.
