The Impact of Supply Chain Finance on Corporate ESG: Taking Mengniu as an Example

Purpose - With the global emphasis on sustainable development and ESG standards, especially in the resource-consuming d airy i ndustry, companies must not only focus on fi nancial p erformance, but also i mprove environmental protection, social responsibility and corporate governance performance. Mengniu supports dairy farmers and suppliers through supply chain finance, promoting green production and social responsibility optimization. This article aims to explore how Mengniu can help achieve ESG goals through supply chain finance and provide reference for other companies and policymakers. Design/Methodology/Approach - This article uses case analysis method, selects Mengniu Dairy as the research object, combines supply chain finance and ESG theory, and analyzes its practices in green procurement, supplier support, risk management, etc. The research data comes from Mengniu’s ESG report, supply chain finance project documents and related literature. Findings - Mengniu has significantly improved its ESG performance through supply chain finance. In terms of environment, we promote low-carbon production and green procurement through green loans; in terms of social responsibility, we support the sustainable development of small and medium-sized dairy farmers and improve supply chain transparency; in terms of corporate governance, we improve risk management, internal controls and supply chain stability. Research Implications - Supply chain finance is an effective tool to achieve ESG goals and provides a green transformation path for high-resource industries such as dairy products. Companies that learn from the Mengniu model need to consider differences in their own scale and management levels, and pay attention to their long-term sustainability and policy dependence.
