한국어능력시험(TOPIK)과 유럽공통참조기준(CEFR)의 등급 기술 비교·연계 연구

A Study on an Analysis and Comparison of the Level Descriptors of the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This study has conducted an analysis and comparison of the level descriptors of the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), subsequently establishing a correlation between their respective proficiency levels. The investigation has conclusively determined that the TOPIK levels correspond to the CEFR levels as follows: Level 1 to A1, Level 2 to A2, Level 3 to B1, Level 4 to B2, Level 5 to C1, and Level 6 to C2. To achieve this objective, the research initially identified the content components of TOPIK and, based on these findings, formulated new level descriptors for the examination. The validity of these descriptors was subsequently substantiated through a comprehensive methodology encompassing literature review, policy research, and expert consultation. Following the validation of these new TOPIK level descriptors, a meticulous alignment process with the CEFR level descriptors was undertaken, strictly adhering to the guidelines for linking language assessments as stipulated by the CEFR. The results demonstrated that each TOPIK level thoroughly assesses the communicative competencies required by the corresponding CEFR level, which is globally recognized for its standardization. Furthermore, it has been ascertained that the TOPIK levels align very closely with the level descriptions provided by the CEFR.
