백제 한성기 호서지역 가야인과 왜인의 이주와 정착

Immigration and settlement of Gaya and Wa people in Hoseo Region of Hanseong period of Baekje

본고에서는 백제 한성기 호서지역에 비교적 뚜렷하게 나타나는 가야와 왜의 이주 관련 고고자료를 정리하면서 계통이나 관련 지역, 시기를 살펴보고, 이를 중심으로 당시 가야인과 왜인의 호서지역 이주와 정착 양상을 간단하게 파악해보았다. 호서지역에서는 외래계 유물이 많이 확인되는데, 외래계 유물이 주거나 분묘 등에서 다양하게 출토되고 동일 지점이나 인근에서 이어지는 양상을 보일 때 이주, 정착과 관련되는 자료로 볼 수 있다고 판단된다. 이에 따라 호서 여러 지역에 가야인과 왜인의 이주, 정착이 있었던 것으로 볼 수 있는데, 그 양상은 다르게 나타난다. 가야계 이주 관련 고고자료는 천안, 아산, 세종, 논산 등 여러 지역에서 확인되는데 한성기에서도 4세기 후반부터 5세기 전엽에 가장 활발하게 이루어진 것으로 추정된다. 가장 먼저 나타나는 이주 양상은 4세기 후반 상당히 높은 위계의 가야(계)인들이 합천지역 등에서 들어와 백제가 천안지역 등에 살게 했을 가능성이 있으며, 다른 지역도 그 여파에 의해 시작된 것이 아닌가 추정된다. 가야(계)인들은 지역에 따라 위계나 이주 상황은 다르지만, 호서지역으로의 이주 후 백제 중앙이나 지방의 재지세력에 협조하면서 그 세력의 성장이나 가야와의 교류 등 다양한 역할을 했을 것으로 추정된다. 왜계 이주 관련 고고자료는 천안, 청주 지역 분묘에서 소수 확인되며, 그 시기는 5세기 전·중엽에 해당한다. 이와 관련되는 문헌기록이 확인되지 않아 명확하게 알기 어렵지만, 무덤이나 유물 양상으로 보아 왜인의 이주는 소규모이고 군사적 성격을 띠는 점에서 한성기 고구려와의 대치 국면이라는 정치적 상황에 따라 군사적 활동을 위해 백제에 들어온 후 돌아가지 않고 호서지역에 정착하게 된 것으로 추정된다.

This study set out to to make an approach to the immigration and settlement of Gaya and Wa(倭) people in Hoseo region of Hanseong period of Baekje, examining regions and periods of archaeological artifacts related to immigration. The Hoseo region can be seen as the immigration and settlement of Gaya and Wa in various regions, but the immigration and settlement patterns appear differently. Archaeological data related to the immigration of Gaya are found in various regions, including Cheonan, Asan, Sejong, and Nonsan, and it is estimated that the immigration was most active from the late 4th century to the early 5th century in the Hanseong period. It is presumed that the first pattern of immigration was that fairly high-ranking Gaya people came from Hapcheon region in the late 4th century and that Baekje lived in Cheonan region, and that other regions were also started by the aftermath. Although the hierarchy and immigration situation vary depending on the region, it is estimated that the Gaya people played various roles, such as the growth of local forces and exchanges with Gaya, While cooperating with Baekje's central and local forces after moving to the Hoseo region. A small number of archaeological data related to the immigration of Wa are found on tombs in Cheonan and Cheongju regions, and the period supposed to be early and middle of the 5th century. In terms of tombs and artifacts it is presumed that the immigration of Wa people was small and military, and according to the political situation of confrontation with Goguryeo in the Hanseong period, it was assumed that they entered Baekje for military activities and settled in the Hoseo region without returning.
