지금 시대에 정의를 실천하기 위해서는 어떠한 노력이 필요한가? 당연히 정의를 위한 실천에 호소하는 목소리가 필요하다. 한국에서는 그리스도교와 불교가 영향력이 큰 종교에 속하며, 이들의 정의를 향한 목소리가 필요하다. 종교 간의 대화에 있어 그리스도교와 불교가 목소리를 내기 위해 각자의 종교에서 바라보는 정의(正義)에 대한 관점을 밝히는 것은 그리스도교와 불교가 정의를 위한 활동하는 데에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 그리스도교와 불교는 엄연히 신관과 인간관이 다른 종교이다. 그러나 사회의 혼란이나 파괴가 아닌 사회의 평화와 정의를 바라는 종교들이다. 함께 정의로운 한국 사회를 만들어감에 있어 서로의 종교에 대한 입장을 살펴보는 것은 유익하다. 그러한 의미에서 이 연구에서는 그리스도교에서 바라보는 정의를 알기 위해 구약 성경과 신약 성경에서 바라보는 정의에 대한 입장을 바라볼 것이다. 구약 성경과 신약 성경을 통해 그리스도교에서 바라보는 하느님의 정의와 인간의 정의에 대해 살펴볼 수 있을 것이다. 또한 불교에서 바라보는 정의가 무엇인지 알기 위해 초기 불교에서 정의와 관련된 교리나 실천들을 살펴보고자 한다. 부처는 자신의 깨달음으로 해탈에서 벗어났고, 자신이 깨달은 바를 다른 사람들에게 알려주어 그들 또한 해탈의 경지에 들어가기를 바랐다. 부처에게 어리석은 이와 깨달음을 얻은 이의 차이는 컸다. 정의롭지 못한 이를 무명(無明)의 상태로 바라보았다. 깨달은 이는 자연스럽게 정의로운 길로 들어선다고 바라본다. 정의는 인간 사회를 지탱하는 중요한 요소이다. 정의가 사회에 존재하지 않는다면 혼란을 통해 사회의 붕괴를 초래할 수 있다. 그리스도교에서나 불교에서나 인간은 가장 중요한 자리를 차지한다. 인간이 질서에 의해 살아갈 수 있도록 각 종교는 정의에 대해 어떻게 바라보는 지 살펴보도록 하자.

What efforts do we need in order to practice justice in these times? Of course, we need a voice that calls for justice. In Korea, Christianity and Buddhism are among the most influential religions, and their voices for justice are required. In order for Christianity and Buddhism to have a voice in the area of interfaith dialogue, it is helpful for Christianity and Buddhism to clarify their perspectives on justice so that they can work towards it. Christianity and Buddhism are religions with different views on God and humanity, but they both want peace and justice in society, not chaos and destruction. As we work together to create a just Korean society, it is beneficial to examine each other’s stance on religion. In that sense, this study examines the notion of justice in the Old and New Testaments to understand Christian view of justice. The Old and New Testaments helps us see the Christian view of divine justice and human justice. It also studies the doctrines and practices related to justice in early Buddhism in order to grasp the meaning of justice in Buddhism. The Buddha reached nirvana through his own awakening and wanted to teach others what he had realized so that they too could enter the state of liberation. For the Buddha, the difference between the fool and the enlightened was vast. The fool is in a state of ignorance. The enlightened is naturally on the path of justice. Justice is an important element that supports human society. If justice does not exist in a society, it can lead to its collapse with chaos. In both Christianity and Buddhism, humans occupy the most important place. It is necessary to take a look at how each religion views justice so that we can live in its order.
