D. Natsagdorj used Mongolian folk songs and ‘legendary dramatized folk songs’ in his work. He said that he wrote the novel “Uchirtai 3 tolgoi” based on the folk song <Yunden Googoo> which was very popular in Mongolia in the 19th century. In the same way, the traditional connection of the folk songs <Sumya Noyon> and <Beijing Lama> with his story <Tears of a Venerable Lama> has been studied before. In this study, the Korean mask drama play about the apostate monk with the Eastern tradition, the song <Sumya Noyon> legendary dramatized folk songs, the meaning of <Tears of a Venerable Lama>, and the character's style were compared, and it was clarified that the novel is a satirical and critical work. D. Natsagdorj believes that by reforming the character in his work <Tears of a Venerable Lama> and revealing the inner soul of the monk, it allowed not only readers but also researchers to see the novel from different perspectives, which created the possibility of problems.
