지속가능한 몽골음악교육을 위한KOICA 음악교육 단원 활동 사례

A Case Study of KOICA Music Education Volunteers' Activities for Sustainable Music Education in Mongolia

This article presents a case study on the activities of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) music education volunteers, with a focus on fostering a sustainable approach to Mongolian studies. Supported by KOICA headquarters and its Mongolia overseas office, the KOICA volunteer activities contributed to promoting cultural integration and sustainable development within Mongolian music education. First, KOICA music education volunteers introduced a Korean music education model in Mongolian local schools, supporting the advancement of the Mongolian music education system. This enabled local students to develop skills in reading musical notation, playing individual instruments, and vocal performance, as well as deepening their understanding of traditional Mongolian music. Second, through training local music teachers, the program strengthened the professional capabilities of educators and supported the development of sustainable teaching methodologies. Third, by collaboration with schools and local communities, KOICA assisted in establishing sustainable strategies for Mongolian music education, enabling local teachers and students to maintain an independent learning environment even after the volunteers' return. These outcomes underscore the significant role of KOICA's international development cooperation in enhancing the sustainability of Mongolian music education. Moving forward, continued cooperation between KOICA, the Mongolian government, and local communities is essential to improve the quality of Mongolian music education and advance sustainable development. Furthermore, this case of KOICA music education volunteers is expected to serve as a foundation model for sustainable international development projects encompassing the fields of education, economy, society, and welfare in Mongolia.
