이 논문은 예이츠 희곡이 내포하고 있는 메타연극적 장치를 논의한다. 혼비가 제시한 메타연극의 다섯 가지 유형을 기준으로 하여 예이츠 희곡 『삼월의 보름달』을 분석함으로써 그의 희곡의 메타 연극성을 입증한다. 그럼으로써 이미 시극, 제의연극, 디에게시스 연극 등의 여러 명칭으로 불리고 있는 예이츠의 희곡이 메타연극으로 분류될 수 있는 가능성을 제공하는데 그 목적을 둔다.
This essay discusses the meta-theatrical features in Yeats’s play A Full Moon in March. The play is analyzed on the basis of Hornby’s five possible varieties of conscious metadrama, so that Yeats’s meta-theatrical devices can clearly be demonstrated. As a result, this essay aims to offer a possibility of defining Yeats’s plays as metatheater.
