조선 8대 명당 입지의 풍수적 한계와 대안

Feng Shui limitations and alternatives for the location of the eight famous cemeteries of the Joseon Dynasty

조선 시대의 묘지 풍수는 풍수 발복이라는 목적 외에도 종족집단의 권위를강화하는 사회적 담론으로 작동했다. 이러한 시대적 흐름 속에서 많은 세월이 흐른 지금도 여러 지방에는 각 가문의 시조나 입향조 묘 등이 소위 ‘조선8(10)대 명당’의 호칭이 붙어 성역화되어 관리되고 있다. 그러나 조선 8대 명당에 대해 풍수적 길지로 보는 견해도 많지만, 반대 의견도 만만찮다. 이런 배경에서, 본 연구는 기존 8대 명당을 대상으로 풍수 명당으로서의 적합 여부와 그 한계를 분석했다. 이때, 연구는 8대 명당의 입지분석을 위한 풍수적 기준을 마련함으로써, 객관적이고 논리적인 분석체계를 갖추고자 하였다. 연구는 나아가 풍수적으로 좀 더 유의미한 새로운(新) 8대 명당을 제시했다. 구체적으로, 각 가문의 가계도를 통해 대제학이나 정승 등의 인물이 수 명 이상 집중적으로 배출된 시기를 찾은 다음, 해당 인물들의 배출에 풍수적 영향을 미친 직계 조상들(5대조까지의 범위)의 묘소 입지를 분석했다. 이를 통해, 연구는 각 가문의 인물 배출에 직접적인 풍수적 영향을 미친 묘소를 선정해 새로운 조선 11대 명당으로 제시했다.

In the Joseon Dynasty, cemetery feng shui functioned as a social discourse that strengthened the authority of ethnic groups in addition to the purpose of improving feng shui. Even after many years have passed in this trend of the times, the tombs of the progenitors of each family and the tombs of deceased ancestors in various regions are managed as sanctuaries with the title of the socalled ‘8 (10) Famous Cemeteries of the Joseon Dynasty’. However, although there are many views on the 8 famous cemeteries of Joseon as good feng shui sites, there are also many opposing opinions. Against this background, this study analyzed the suitability and limitations of the eight existing famous cemeteries as Feng Shui auspicious places(明堂). At this time, the study sought to establish an objective and logical analysis system by establishing feng shui standards for analyzing the locations of the eight famous cemeteries. The study further suggested eight new famous cemeteries that were more meaningful in terms of Feng Shui. Specifically, through the family tree of each family, we find the period when several or more figures such as great scholars and the prime minister were produced intensively, and then we find the graves of the direct ancestors (up to the 5th ancestor) who had a feng shui influence on the production of those figures. The location was analyzed. Through this, the study selected cemeteries that had a direct feng shui influence on the production of figures from each family and presented them as the 11 new famous cemeteries of the Joseon Dynasty.
