구어 인용표현의 해석적 사용 - 적합성 이론을 중심으로

Interpretive Use of Quotation Expressions in Spoken Language : Focusing on Relevance Theory

본 연구는 구어에서 사용되는 인용표현을 화용적 관점에서 분석하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 이를 위해 적합성 이론을 바탕으로 구어 인용표현의 특성과 사용 양상을 밝히고자 하였다. 구어 인용표현의 구조적 특징과 화용적 의미를 탐구하여 포괄적인 설명을 시도하고 있다. 구어 인용표현은 네 가지 유형으로 구분할 수 있다. 이는 순수 인용표현, 직접 인용표현, 혼합 인용표현, 간접 인용표현이다. 각각의 유형은 적합성 이론을 바탕으로 분석되었다. 구어 인용표현은 형식적 유사성과 내용적 유사성을 조정하여 발화 맥락과 청자의 이해 과정을 고려한다. 이를 통해 발화의 적합성을 극대화하려는 화자의 의도가 드러난다. 비전형적인 인용표현 사례는 기존의 이분법적 접근을 보완할 필요성을 보여준다. 본 연구에서는 구어 인용표현의 다양한 양상에 대한 일괄적 설명을 시도하였다. 또한 화용적 관점에서 맥락과 의도를 분석하는 방식이 필요함을 강조하였다. 이를 통해 구어 인용표현 연구의 새로운 가능성을 제시하고 있다.

This study analyzes quotation expressions in spoken language from a pragmatic perspective. To this end, it examines the characteristics and usage patterns of spoken quotation expressions based on Relevance theory(Sperber & Wilson 1986/1995). Thise study seeks to describe the structural features and pragmatic meanings of spoken quotation expressions comprehensively. Spoken quotation expressions can be categorized into four types: pure, direct, mixed, and indirect quotation expressions. Each type is analyzed within the framework of the relevance theory. Spoken quotation expressions adjust formal and content resemblance to account for contextual factors and the listener’s understanding process. This highlights the speaker’s intention to maximize the relevance of the utterance. Atypical quotation expressions suggest the need to supplement the traditional dichotomous approach. This study attempts to provide a unified explanation for the diverse patterns of spoken quotation expressions. Furthermore, it emphasizes the necessity of analyzing the context and speaker intention from a pragmatic perspective. This approach opens up new possibilities for future research on spoken quotation expressions.
