中国典籍英译中的翻译难点及其对策——以欧永福和米欧敏英译本《晏子春秋》的对比为例

Translation difficulties in English translation of Chinese classics and their countermeasures — A case study on The Spring and Autumn Annals of Master Yan translated by Yoav Ariel and Olivia Milburn

本文选取欧永福和米欧敏英译本《晏子春秋》为研究对象，重点梳理中国典籍英译中的难点及翻译策略。汉英两种语言和文化简显著差异，使得典籍英译中面临诸多挑战，包括理解偏差、背景信息缺失、逻辑词缺失以及风格差异等，两位译者在翻译实践中主要采取了增补逻辑词、补充必要背景信息、提供注释、音译加注释、释义等方式，让译文更符合目的语读者的阅读习惯，让中国典籍真正“走出去”。

This paper takes The Spring and Autumn Annals of Master Yan by Ou Yongfu and Mi Omin as the research object, and focuses on the difficulties and translation strategies in the translation of Chinese classics into English. There are great differences between Chinese and English languages and cultures, leading to many difficulties in the translation of Chinese classics, such as understanding errors, information inequality, information gaps, style differences, etc. In the translation process, the two translators mainly adopted the methods of addition, annotation, transliteration and annotation, interpretation, etc., so as to make the translation more in line with the reading habits of the target language readers and make Chinese classics “go global”.
