문화적 차원 이론 기반의 의사소통 특성 측정 도구 개발

Developing a Cultural Dimension Theory-Based Communication Characteristics Scale

이 연구는 Hofstede(1980, 1984, 1991, 2010)의 문화적 차원 이론을 바탕으로 의사소통 특성 측정 도구를 개발하고, 이를 한국의 고등학생과 대학생을 대상으로 수집한 데이터를 통해 타당화하였다. 탐색적 요인분석을 통해 7개 요인을 도출하였으며, 28문항으로 구성된 검사지를 활용하여 확인적 요인분석과 다양성 존중 척도와의 비교 분석을 수행하였다. ‘여성주의’를 독립된 요인으로 설정하기 어려웠다는 점, Hofstede의 기존 논저에서와 달리 ‘저-권력 격차’의 점수가 높게 나타났다는 점, 동일한 문화적 차원으로 연결된 서로 다른 두 특성들이 다양성 존중 척도와의 상관관계에서 상반된 방향성을 보였다는 점 등에 대해 주목해 볼 수 있다. 이 도구는 한국 사회의 문화적 특성과 개인의 다양성 존중 성향을 반영한 교육 및 연구에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study developed a communicative characteristics scale based on Hofstede’s (1980, 1984, 1991, 2010) cultural dimension theory and validated it using data collected from high school and university students in Korea. Seven factors were derived through exploratory factor analysis. Additionally, a confirmatory factor analysis and comparative analysis with the respect for diversity scale (RDS) were performed using a 28-item test. Notably, establishing “femininity” as an independent factor proved challenging, the score for “small power distance” was higher than in Hofstede's previous research, and two distinct characteristics within the same cultural dimension exhibited opposite correlations with the RDS. This scale will be valuable for education and research that consider the cultural characteristics of Korean society and the disposition of individuals to respect diversity.
