This study focuses on the process by which ZIZII Co., a company specializing in the production of office furniture, expanded its business into the rapidly growing pet industry and developed a dining chair for pet dogs, with intellectual property acquisition as a prerequisite. A total of 12 products, including six domestic and six international items, were researched online. Most of these products are produced in small quantities by woodworking shops or small enterprises. The design concepts derived from the research are as follows: The chair features a knockdown structure to reduce volume during delivery. Its height is 350 mm during shipping, 650 mm for low-level use, and can be adjusted up to 810 mm to align with a human dining table. Notably, a technology allowing the tray protruding forward to fold inward around a rotational axis has been patented. Additionally, the chair is equipped with wheels to facilitate indoor mobility. Pet dog table chairs, an emerging category within pet furniture, initially developed for single-person households with pets. However, their demand is rapidly increasing in public spaces such as pet-friendly cafes, hotels, department stores, and more. As the number of related companies continues to grow, securing patented technologies is urgent to gain a competitive edge in the market.
