The purpose of this study is to examine cases of studio projects for Basic Course of 1st year program in Design College. For the development of projects, this paper studies the cases by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, Oskar Schlemmer, Josef Albers of De Stijl, Bauhaus, and Black Mountain College, and Campana brothers at the Boisbuchet workshop in 2006. The Rietveld's formative experiments, Schlemmer's theater project, Albers’s preliminary course, and the Campana brothers' Boisbuchet workshop project, there are constant appearance of cross dimensions, exploration of the human body, understanding of the material properties and structures, and concept development. The researcher’s projects developed based on these 4 keywords. The students’ projects that were most frequently used and had excellent outcomes by students has selected for this paper, and described into the tables along with the project's goals, conditions, process, evaluation criteria, and reference cases. The reference projects from Bauhaus or the Boisbuchet workshop are 19-100 years away from now, but their philosophy and formative theory are still worthy of reference. The reason could be their curriculum and educational programs are not based on trends at one time or demand from the outside, but because of the result of fundamental concerns and questions about education, formative arts and design. The researcher hopes that the results of this paper will be deepened through feedback from other researchers, educators, artists and designers, and expects that it will develop further into comparative and mutual research with media and arts majors’ courses.
