문화콘텐츠 캐릭터 개발을 위한 한국신화의 인물 연구 - “삼국유사” <처용랑망해사>의 ‘처용’을 중심으로

A study on characters from Korean mythology for developing cultural content characters : Focusing on ‘Cheoyong’ in “Samguk Yusa” <Cheoyongrangmanghaesa>

이 연구에서는 문화콘텐츠 개발에 활용할 수 있는 한국신화의 캐릭터 원형을 고찰했다. 이를 위해 “삼국유사”에 수록된 <처용랑망해사>의 구성을 분석했다. <처용랑망해사>는 ‘처용이야기’와 ‘토착신이야기’로 구성되었다. 이 이야기들은 처용은 전염병의 신과 신라인과의 소통에 성공했으며 토착신은 신라인과의 소통에 실패했음을 보여주었다. 아울러 <처용랑망해사>에 등장하는 ‘처용’의 양상과 의미를 탐색했다. ‘처용’은 <처용랑망해사>에서 ‘날씨를 관장하는 능력’, ‘춤과 노래’, ‘이주와 적응력’, ‘중앙귀족으로의 편입’, ‘신을 보는 능력’, ‘신과 소통하는 능력’, ‘전염병을 막는 능력’, ‘새로운 수호신’으로 나타났다.

In this study, we examined the archetypes of characters from Korean mythology that can be used in the development of cultural content. For this purpose, the composition of <Cheoyongrangmanghaesa> included in “SamgukYusa” was analyzed. <Cheoyongrangmanghaesa> consists of ‘Cheoyong’s Story’ and ‘Indigenous God’s Story’. These stories showed that Cheoyong succeeded in communicating with the God of epidemics and Silla people, while the indigenous god failed to communicate with Silla people. In addition, the aspects and meaning of ‘Cheoyong’ that appears in <Cheoyong rangmanghaesa> were explored. In <Cheoyongrangmanghaesa>, ‘Cheoyong’ appears as ‘the ability to control the weather’, ‘dance and song’, ‘migration and adaptability’, ‘incorporation into the central nobility’, ‘the ability to see God’, ‘the ability to communicate with God’, ‘the ability to prevent infectious diseases’, and ‘a new guardian God’.
