The Role and Vision of Philosophical Counseling in the Design of Future Education

교육은 기본적으로 학생이 삶의 의미를 발견하고, 삶을 완성해 가는 것을 목표로 한다. 이는 신체와 지적 성장만이 아닌 가치실현을 통한 삶의 의미를 발견함으로써 이루어지는 정신적 성장이 함께 했을 때 가능한 일이다. 교육이 원래의 목적과 본질대로 인간 삶을 위한 과정 그 자체로 존재하기 위해서는 학생들이 실존에 대해 질문을 던지고, 답을 찾아가는 과정 속에서 삶의 의미를 발견하고, 실존적 공허함을 해소해갈 수 있는 토대를 마련해주어야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 미래교육을 설계함에 있어 교육의 본질적인 역할과 긴밀한 접점을 갖는 철학상담에 주목하고자 한다. 철학상담은 철학적 층위의 물음들을 통해 각 개인의 실존이 갖는 의미와 가치를 발견하고 실현하는 것을 강조한다. 이는 미래교육이 추구해야 할 중요한 목표이자 본질이기도 하다. 본 연구에서는 미래교육 설계에서 철학상담의 역할과 비전을 제안함에 있어서 다음과 같은 사항들을 중심으로 논의하고자 한다. 첫째, 철학상담의 역할과 비전에 초점을 두고 철학상담의 개념적 이해를 다루고자 한다. 둘째, OECD Education 2030 프로젝트와 우리나라 2022 개정 교육과정을 토대로 기존의 미래교육 설계의 특징과 한계를 살펴보고, 철학상담과의 긴밀한 연결성을 검토하고자 한다. 셋째, 미래교육 설계에서 철학상담이 갖는 중요한 교육적 함의에 대해 논의하고, 미래교육의 구체적 설계 방향을 제안하고자 한다.

Education fundamentally aims to help students discover the meaning of life and work towards fulfilling it. This can only be achieved through psychological growth, which involves not only physical and intellectual development but also the discovery of life’s meaning through the realization of values. For education to remain true to its original purpose and essence as a process for human life, it is essential to provide students with a foundation that enables them to question existence and seek answers, thereby discovering the meaning of life and alleviating existential emptiness. Therefore, this study aims to highlight philosophical counseling, which has a close connection to the fundamental role of education in designing future education. Philosophical counseling emphasizes discovering and realizing the meaning and value of each individual's existence through philosophical inquiries. This is also a significant goal and essence that future education should pursue. This study aims to discuss the following points regarding the role and vision of philosophical counseling in the design of future education. First, this study will address a conceptual understanding of philosophical counseling, focusing on its role and vision. Second, it will examine the characteristics and limitations of existing future education designs based on the OECD Education 2030 project and the revised national curriculum of 2022, while reviewing the close connection with philosophical counseling. Third, it will discuss the significant educational implications of philosophical counseling in the design of future education and propose specific directions for future educational design.
