숙달도와 노출 시간에 따른 중국인 대학생 한국어 학습자의 대화 함축 이해

Understanding Conversational Implicature among Chinese College Students Learning Korean Based on Proficiency and Exposure

본 연구는 중국인 대학생 한국어 학습자의 대화 함축 이해 양상을 숙달도와 노출 시간이라는 변인에 따라 분석하였다. 총 140명의 중국인 대학생 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 16개의 대화 함축 이해 문항을 실시한 결과, 숙달도의 주효과와 노출 시간의 주효과가 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 그 중에서 숙달도가 노출 시간보다 더 큰 영향력을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 사후 인터뷰를 통해 학습자들은 은유, 공손성 표현, 중의적 표현, 유머 이해 등 대화 함축 유형에서 어려움을 겪는 것으로 파악되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 대화 함축 교육에서 체계적인 숙달도 향상과 함께 문화적 맥락 이해를 포함하는 통합적 접근이 필요함을 시사한다.

This study analyzed the understanding of conversational implicature among Chinese college students learning Korean based on their proficiency level and exposure time. A test consisting of 16 items assessing comprehension of conversational implicature was administered to 140 Chinese college students learning Korean. The results revealed statistically significant main effects for both proficiency level and exposure time. Among these variables, proficiency level was found to have a greater impact than exposure time. Through follow-up interviews, it was identified that learners experienced difficulties with various types of conversational implicature, including figurative expression, politeness strategies, ambiguous expressions, and humor comprehension. These findings suggest that teaching conversational implicature requires an integrated approach that combines systematic proficiency enhancement with an understanding of cultural context.
